Clay Screams. Human Suffering through Animation and Music

Biography
Adrián Encinas Salamanca (Madrid, 1986) is a Civil Engineer. His premature contact with the cinema of Ray Harryhausen made outcrops on a concern about the how and why of animation frame by frame, which materialized in 2006 in the creation of the Puppets & Clay blog, dedicated exclusively to the world of stop-motion. He has also worked for animation festivals such as Animayo, Animadrid, and 3D Wire, delivering chats about stop-motion; he has also written for the publication STOP MOTION DON’T STOP from the exhibition with the same title; and he has contributed to books (The Spanish Short in 100 names), magazines (FX Magazine, Stop-Motion Magazine) and fanzines (DATA, Amazing Monsters) focusing on this centennial animation technique from different points of view. As well, he is founder of STOPMOTIA, an association of lovers of stop-motion.

Biography
Antonio J. Busto (Seville, 1990) has a degree in Fine Arts from the Universitat Politècnica de València and he is based in Spain. He is a current student of the Master of Artistic Production of UPV. He has always been interested in the development of new narrative forms and display ideas out of the mainstream. His work moves between different formats, including animation, live action, design and illustration. Through various scholarships he has managed to study at different universities as the prestigious Emily Carr University (Vancouver) and Middlesex University (London), where he and his group Rabano Studio created the short film The Day I Killed My Best Friend.

Biography
Jordi Costa (Barcelona, 1966). He has been writing about movies, comics and other areas of popular culture since 1981. Author of numerous books, including 100 películas clave del cine de animación (2010), he has also contributed to other collaborative work. Alongside Dario Adanti he has published the comics Mis problemas con Amenábar (2009) and 2.000 años de cine (2010). He has been responsible for the thematic content of Cinemanía channel. He has curated exhibitions at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona, and La Casa Encendida (Madrid). He has taught at the University Pompeu Fabra, and the Camilo José Cela University. Lecturer at Master Degree in Animation UPV. He is a film critic for El País and Fotogramas. He has directed the films Piccolo Grande Amore and La lava en los labios under the guidelines of the manifest # littlesecretfilm.

Biography
María Trénor (Valencia, 1977). Graduated in Fine Arts at the Faculty of San Carlos, UPV, Valencia. She has collaborated with institutions such as Universidad Carlos III, Madrid, Universidad Castilla la Mancha, Accademia di Belle Arti de Palermo and Universitat Politècnica de València (Master Degree on Animation), taking part into conferences, master classes and round tables on animation. She has also contributed to in publications by the Valencian Filmoteque and Ocho y Medio editions, specialized in film. She is currently lecturer on Audiovisual Media at the School of Art and Design in Valencia.

Biography
Raul G. Monaj teaches various subjects related to animation at the Degree in Communication Studies and Master in animation UPV. Specialized in commercial preproduction, he has been involved professionally in nearly twenty animated TV series (Cuttlas, Discworld, 2020, Bugwatch, Captain Pugwash, Little Grey Rabbit, etc.), in several feature films (El Cid, The reporter), as well as in various animated and live action ads (Heineken, Nestlé, L’Oceanografic, Mc. Donalds). He is the author of the book Manual para la realización de storyboards.

Biography
Adriana Navarro (aka Adriana Baradri) (Vizcaya, 1986) graduated in Fine Arts from the Polytechnic University of Valencia with Specialization in Animation. Specialist Stop-Motion: Art and Industry, and graduated in both Master in Animation and Master in Artistic Production. Her short film, Vía Tango (2012) has been selected in many national and international festivals and appear in the 2013 Curts catalogue of the Valencian Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual (IVAC). She has published research papers in Confia 2012 International Conference of Illustration & Animation, Deforma: Cultura Online, International Academic Forum Animation Anima 2013, and Con A de Animación.

Biography
Beatriz Herráiz Zornoza (Valencia, 1975). She gets her PhD «Cum Laude» in Fine Arts, Universitat Politècnica de València. She is Assistant Professor Doctor Degree in Audiovisual Communication and Faculty of Fine Arts, UPV. She has worked as a graphic designer for the regional television channel Canal 9 and UPVRTV, developing animated brand identity projects and motion graphics. Her research focuses on motion graphics and animation, delivering papers at Congreso de Tipografía 2012, and CONFIA 2013 (Portugal). She has coordinated an international cooperation project entitled Historias para compartir alongside with Conservatory Balla Fasséké Kouyate of Bamako (Mali). Moreover, she has produced the audiovisual design for different theatrical plays like Bonnie and Clyde (Galo Teatro Real), Dot and Consonants (Maduixa Teatre), and Harket Protocolo (PanicMap), some of them whit international tour. She has also done projects for various graphic image printed media and web.

Maria Rosario Carlino was born in Córdoba, Argentina, in 1978. She holds a Master degree in Film and TV at the National University of Córdoba. During the last twelve years she has been dedicated to image and animation, developing personal projects, advertising and educational for children and adults. In 2012, she directed the TV series Antón. She is currently working in the pre-production of a new animated series for children; in the production of a stop motion animated short, and working in the scrip of new projects.

Paula Tavares was born in Porto, Portugal. She holds a degree in Visual Arts – Painting, from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Oporto, though she also enjoyed an Erasmus period in Barcelona. She got her PhD at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Pontevedra, Spain, 2006, with the thesis The complex relations between art and politics in western culture. Political art as institutional contradiction. She is an artist, researcher and profesor. Currently she teaches at the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave, where she is Head of the Department of Design, and the Master Degree in Illustration and Animation. She chairs the International Conference on Animation and Illustration since 2012.

Antonio Horno López is Graduated in Fine Arts at Universidad de Granada, Spain. Now he is a researching student granted by Junta de Andalucía, and he works at the Department of Design at the same University, as researcher and lecturer. He is currently researching in animation techniques. He also contributed as animator to the short film The Cat Dances with its Shadow, coordinated by María Lorenzo. Nowadays he is a PhD candidate, writing a thesis about Japanese animation.

Débora Madrid Brito (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 1989) is Graduated in Art History at Universidad de La Laguna (2012) and has a Master Degree on Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2013). She has delivered papers at the First International Congress of Young Researchers in Humanities at Universidad Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona (2012), and at V Meeting of Young Researchers in Art History at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2013). Her current research interests are related to Spanish cinema and science fiction films.

Biography
Tomás Sánchez holds a PhD. in Communication (with distinctions for his thesis Los cuentos de hadas según Walt Disney [Walt Disney’s fairy tales]) and a Postgraduate Degree in Screenwriting. He is currently working as a professor at the Facultad de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts School) of Universidad de Salamanca. He has also taught at the Facultad de Comunicación (Communication School) of Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca, where he was devoted to the areas of script and audiovisual communication. At this university he has also been involved in lectures and organization tasks related to the Master’s Degree on Screenwriting for Television and Films. He also works as a freelance illustrator and writer —under the pseudonym ‘Tomás Hijo’— and as editor at Tatanka Books.

Laura Montero Plata, Ph.D in History of Cinema by Autonomous University of Madrid, she is graduated in Audio-visual Communication Studies by San Pablo-CEU University of Madrid. She is a member of the editorial staff of the film review magazine Fila Siete. She has published in journal like Secuencias or Cahiers du Cinéma España, she collaborates since 2010 in the Cines del Sur Film Festival of Granada and she is programmer and co-organizer for Semana de Cine Japonés Actual en la EOI. Ricardo Arce López is an Associated Lecturer at Jorge Tadeo Lozano University. Founding member of ASIFA Colombia. He studied Graphic Design at the National University of Colombia, TV Specialization at Javeriana University and the Master in Aesthetics and Art History at the UJTL. Co-author of the book La Animación en Colombia hasta finales de los años 80 (Animation in Colombia until the late 80s).
